EDYTA LOPATECKI
ABOUT
Graduated as a visual artist (artistic weaving speciality), I then studied artistic engraving at the Institute of Fine Arts in Poland for two years. I have always explored different painting techniques. In my work, my inspiration comes mainly from nature. During my travels, I observe it a lot, attentive to all its phenomena. I particularly appreciate wild landscapes, I explore their beauty and their singularity. I see landscapes and their "entities" rather as an interesting organization of space. I am sensitive to this aspect. When a subject inspires me, I draw or paint until I go beyond reality. During the creative process, the elements of the landscape change in my eyes. They transform into a semi-abstract reality and form a new vision of space. In my artistic research, I attach great importance to black (Indian ink) and white (paper) which allow "presences" and "entities" to manifest themselves. Art, for me, is only a means to preserve a connection with Nature.
The same artistic process can also be achieved with another subject, an object of everyday life. Indeed, objects occupy our space. If there is one that inspires me, I interpret it in multiple ways, always in a questioning of space. My attention is mainly focused on the research of graphics and work on materials. I seek to extrapolate my subjects to give them a new dimension. I work mainly in watercolor, ink but I also explore different engraving techniques. These materials give me a lot of freedom in the plastic gesture, allowing me to express my spontaneity.
